Thursday in Austell

Thursday in Austell. Little slow getting started this morning. Things are going well. We feel like we are accomplishing a lot and helping the people we are working with.
We are checking out work orders to see what we can work on. We went by one house but we felt it was not safe to work there and thought the building inspector would likely condemn it. Jimmy is going to spary a house down and we have a yard cleanup job to do.
We are down a few members - Jamie had to go back because Lisa was sick, Gina and Cathy had to go back to do some things.

Mission trip pics
I got these pictures from Mel that is on the trip.
This house has been condemned.
Thanks Mel for the pics!!
This house has been condemned.
You can see the mud line on the roof.
Mel said that this house has moved from it's foundation and turned about a quarter over. You can see where the steps don't match up with the porch.
You can see in this picture the mud line on the trees.
Here is the meat from Food Depot that washed out of the store and into a near by yard. The next picture is of the bag of onions hanging in a tree that I told you about in a previous post.

Thanks Mel for the pics!!

Austell Day 2 Complete

Day 2 is over except for going to bed. We had a very productive day at 2 different houses. At one house we had to remove about 3 feet of paneling and clean for mold. We have one room to finish at that house tomorrow. At a second house hardwood flooring was removed and some cleanup performed. Our ministry team went out and met with some people today.
We had a visit from some people from Billy Graham's Rapid Response at one house.
Billy had to go to Rome this afternoon to get ready for Karen Nelson's funeral. Mel had to travel back for a doctor's appointment. I will also be going back for the funeral tomorrow. We will all return tomorrow night to finish out the week.
We went out to eat at Texas Roadhouse and our waitress was a flood victim who lost everything. We spoke with her some and took up an offering for her. Talk to you tomorrow.
Thanks for your support and continue to pray for us.

Austell Day 1 Winding Down

First day of the mission trip is coming to a close. Typical first day of trip. Getting things organized and getting our materials.
After lunch we did work at one house cleaning a basement that flooded with about 2' or water. Our ministry team went out and visited some folks around the neighborhood.
Tomorrow we will split up in 2 teams. At one house we will be tearing up hardwood flooring. We have not visited the second house yet.
About time for devotion. Check back tomorrow for more updates.

Call from Kerry
I just talked to Kerry on the phone. She is having a good time. Today they went to the store and bought some supplies to make baskets for flood victims. Cleaning supplies and goody bags for the kids. Kerry is on the evangelist team. She said they visited one lady's house today that is by a creek. There is a Food Depot down the street from this lady and she ended up with food in her yard that had washed out of the store. Some of it was meat....which added to the smell!! Kerry also said that there was a bag of onions in a tree....up in a tree. There has been looting too from what Kerry said. Someone had a lawnmower and dishwasher stolen.
Mel bought Kerry some rubber boots because the mud is bad there. She said from all the trips she's been on that this has been the worst damage she's seen. But the other trips she was there months or a couple of years from the time of the disaster.
